My Wikistress Level

Hi everyone! Welcome to my first personal wikiproject--a complete revision of the phoenix article! This is an important undertaking for me, as I have something of a writing phobia. I am hoping that I can overcome it by practicing through Wikipedia. Also, the phoenix is something of a personal symbol of mine :-)

I've decided to use this page as a journal to keep track of my progress. Comments are welcome under new sections. Any suggestions, advice, or encouragement from anyone along the way would be greatly appreciated! Also, my wikistress meter will let you know if I really need help. Wish me luck!

My Progress

[edit]

Yay!

[edit]

I've finally started! Yes, I've only written one actual line...but I have all my references down and in the correct format...that's something, isn't it?

I'll have more soon...I need to sit down and brainstorm on paper so I can figure out how I want to lay it out...the structure should help. I don't know why I have so much trouble...I sit down to type, and a million ideas fly through my head, and I have no idea where to start...sigh...

But, I'm going to try to remain optimistic! I'm going to find a way to overcome this. Nothing's going to hold me back!!!

So tired...

[edit]

Ok...I've been working on this ALL DAY. Of course I'm still avoiding writing my own material. I spent the day editing the existing popular culture references...and I've only made it through the literature and music sections. Why must I be such a perfectionist? Why do I spend so much time agonizing over the wording of every sentence? I've also been varifying EVERYTHING...and adding dates and other imporant information. Meh...

But, maybe that's not such a bad thing...I mean, I don't have a time limit...why not do the very best I can? And, I am learning things. Who knows, maybe this will even become a featured article. It could happen.

Alright, I'm going to go to sleep now...more to come tomorrow.

Chippin' away

[edit]

Ok, so, little by little I'm getting somewhere. I did the Television and Film section today, and I'm working on Video Games. One of my biggest hindrences is getting sucked into wikilinks...spending too much time reading things irrelevant to the project at hand. I'll have to work on staying more focused.

Other than that, I'm quite pleased with how things are going. I've really cleaned things up in this section. Luckily, I don't have much of a problem fixing other people's work. When it comes time to write the meat of the article...when it's going to be my work...that's going to be a different story. But, I'm determined to figure it out. This article is going to rock!

On that note, I'm going to get some sleep.

The desert city?

[edit]

As Starlightmusic notes, it's rather a sizable omission that the Phoenix page neglects to mention the capital of Arizona (and sixth largest city in the United States), named by Darrell Duppa to commemorate the fact that the Anglo settlement was sited on, and even reused some of the canals of, an ancient Hohokam settlement; and your new page still omits that rather striking reference to the lore of the phoenix. The symbol of the phoenix is used throughout the city, from the city seal to a striking sculpture outside the Town & Country Shopping Center (about 5 miles from where I grew up, in the spirit of full disclosure). --SeanWillard 11:38, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
