July 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Lord Belbury. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Saddlebrooke, Arizona have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Lord Belbury (talk) 21:11, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for input.
The photos were only added due to suggestion on wikipedia page that requested photos. Not for promotional. We Have no commercial interest. And they could be skipped.
Just a general community visitorS group. Volunteers, no ads, etc. The community guide is all inclusive and the hoa only ones do not include the other parts of the community not in the two hoas. There is more than the two hoas in SADDLEBROOKE. A bit confusing because everything is called Saddlebrooke around the area. If anything the description is more limited than other similar type communities on wikipedia, which we used as a model. I have history for the area we are working on to add to the article also. If the following revision is not acceptable for specific reasons or if we should not try to update the article for the community, let me know. Or start over? If photos of SaddleBrooke are a problem, suggest revert to the revision, below , which has just the one photo. And has updates for population and brief description for the overall community, it added an overall community guide link which is by a joint committee. Skip photos if they are considered promotional. Again only uploaded more photos based on the prod by wikipedia.
19:00, 10 July 2022‎ Sbariz talk contribs‎ m 4,082 bytes +551‎ Added description of overall area in the CDP. The wordpress site is a non commercial site used by a local visitors committee. No ads, no promos. Updated population in description to 2020. Added a more appropriate image. The only image was of a distant fire that was not in close proximity or threat to the area. Have more information that can be added in future to match other similar communities Sbariz (talk) 21:49, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you have no connection to the photos and found them online, I'm afraid they have to go because Wikipedia can't use pictures used without the copyright holder's permission. saddlebrookecommunity.wordpress.com looked like the kind of promotional link that goes against Wikipedia's WP:LINKSTOAVOID.
Do you have any local photos that you've taken yourself? --Lord Belbury (talk) 22:17, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We have permission to use the professional photos which were done by two hoas and developer. Not found on-line but thru HOAs. But they are online on a variety of sites for community HOA, google maps, and developer materials. Developer gave permission to HOAs to use them also. But as mentioned easiest to skip them. I could get written documentation from the boards next week and could submit them later. But they may be too professional looking?
The one initial photo in the revision suggested was from a community photo contest for community use.
It is a wordpress site but as mentioned it is designed to be a neutral website with no ads. It is all the community wide resources and assets. Some of the similar communities, have community guide sites on wikipedia. Although the other similar community guide sites on wikipedia do have real estate ads and more classified sale items. The wordpress one used does NOT have allow any real estate ads, classified or promos. All the amenities listed in it are all community managed non profit assets for area. I don't think homeowner association website links are appropriate for Wikipedia articles, since they are advertisements for themselves. Some photos would be welcome for an article that doesn't really have any, but you must go through https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Volunteer_Response_Team#If_you_are_NOT_the_copyright_holder to confirm that you have permission to upload them, rather than uploading them under a CC-Attribution licence and marking them as your "own work". --Lord Belbury (talk) 12:12, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much for the additional. I will edit out both HOA links. Those were not put in by me, but were there previously. And replace them with the overall SaddleBrooke community guide which is more like other approved sites that are on wikipedia for similar communities. Sun Lakes is one example Sun Lakes, Arizona of the community resource guides. And that would match your input. The three Sun Lakes hoa links are not on wikipedia, just the community guide. There are a few other examples. So that would match up.
The non HOA saddlebrookecommunity guide is the one non HOA specific, is non commercial and non promotional and covers Saddlebrooke,AZ.
I will put a slightly different overall description based on your suggested one. I do not think putting in just one number for one HOA is balanced. I think either numbers for all three or numbers left out. It is a common question but can have the visitor resident committee address it in the guide. Also will clarify that Preserve is not “a preserve” but “the preserve subdivision”. The name “a preserve might suggest a park area vs a subdivision with houses and other buildings.
I notice the 2020 population has reverted in the top description to 2010. The previous edit to 2020 would match the box on the lower right and be more up to date. Will put that back into the description.
Will ask the external visitor committee to narrow the selection of photos and use the provided link (thanks for that pointer) I think that is where the one photo for the first revision was uploaded but will double check before using it.
In reviewing other similar communities, I see additional categories at bottom of their listings. Will try and figure out how to indicate those to match for “retirement communities” Sbariz (talk) 14:54, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Corrections to population and similar are appreciated. But take a look over Wikipedia:Conflict of interest before writing anything about an organisation that you have a personal or professional connection to. Thanks. --Lord Belbury (talk) 15:33, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I have no professional connection to any of the organizations or personal connection or financial interests to the websites and will review again. I took an interest to general area a few years and offered as strictly a volunteer to try to update some entries for southern pinal county. I was looking for information on a wilderness area north of SaddleBrooke. I noticed years ago the area seem to be devoid of wikipedia information. But had some personal family needs so did not follow thru. Also I found a personal photo I took years ago when visiting the area. Was able to Upload it to commons. I will probably provide some suggestions for the wilderness pages also. Sbariz (talk) 16:01, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
