Information icon Hello, I'm Dual Freq. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Navy Cross, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Dual Freq (talk) 21:12, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct I was in the process of providing a source. My husband recently passed away and when myself and son were going through his personal belonging we found 2 medals and numerous letters from the secretary of the Navy. There were 2 medals which belonged to his father Roy Marshall Lancaster, aviation radioman second class. The other medal was air medal with 5 gold stars. I am 73 and not very computer literate my grand children are going to help me send the information you desire. The citation states: for heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight as an Aircrewman in a patrol bomber squadron twenty-eight, in action against enemy Japanese forces in the southwest pacific area from Jan 25th thru April 10th 1945. Participating in 20 missions over hostile territory in the vicinity of operational airfields during this period. Please let me know what information you need I want his service recognized by his grandson and great grandson 2603:6080:EA03:D63B:5526:D39D:9CF6:37BC (talk) 21:49, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for your loss. The list in the Navy Cross article really isn't meant to be an all inclusive list. There are thousands of recipients of the Navy Cross, so there has to be a line drawn somewhere and it mostly is a list of recipients that have wikipedia articles. I would note that the wording "achievement in aerial flight" is usually used for the Distinguished Flying Cross, perhaps you have misunderstood the citation? Military Times lists many recipients of many valor awards at https://valor.militarytimes.com/ I think you would be better off reading through https://valor.militarytimes.com/about-valor and contacting them to add Roy Marshall Lancaster to their database. I think you can send copies of the citations and they will put him into their database with the other honored person. Wikipedia is not really intended to contain a list like that. Sorry. --Dual Freq (talk) 22:10, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your prompt reply. I will continue to research the information you gave me. If I would send you pictures could you help me with identification? Again thank you. Connie Lancaster Sbsc1969 (talk) 22:41, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
