Orphan

[edit]

Yes, I agree that my article's an orphan. I've added a link to it, and I'll try to find some more! Kayau Odyssey HUCK FINN to the lighthouse BACK FROM EXAMS 14:56, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for that, was a lot of work! Did you have a script (I'd love to steal it), or all by hand? Staxringold talkcontribs 01:40, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Do you mean adding | in between the names? I replaced all spaces with | and then I ended up with a lot of ||||. Then it was just figuring out the best order to do the Replace Alls to make sure it doesn't screw it up. So no, there was no script. Just some thinking, and then the computer took care of the rest. I had to manually go in and fix some of the ones with notes and stuff, though. –Schmloof (talk · contribs) 02:34, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I meant is there a way to code the names into your find and replace with a generic code? Like lets say you had several things on the table that had }} to end them so you couldn't just find and replace for that. BUT the opening for that template is unique for that column (say it's sortname) so you want to find/replace for {{sortname|NAME}}, was wondering if there was a way to input that into Word. -Staxringold
  • There probably is, I've seen people write crazy scripts for Excel, anyway, but I'm definitely not good enough to write anything like that. For me, it's just a workaround that doesn't really solve the problem but gets the job done. If there was a table with lots of }} or something, I probably wouldn't be able to do it. I'm sure someone out there could, though. –Schmloof (talk · contribs) 02:51, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yup, I'm completely stumped on how to get the dates right. I can get them all to say | {{dts|07-23-2004}} || {{sortname|Ken|Jennings}} || $75,000, but I can't get it to say | {{dts|2004-07-23}} etc., which is what {{dts}} needs to work, since there's such a wide variety of dates. So, if you've got a good fix, I'd like to hear it. –Schmloof (talk · contribs) 03:18, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose I deserved it

[edit]

Ha thanks.. I was considering that, but for some reason chose a db page, I'm fine with that, thanks for the notification - Theornamentalist (talk) 03:39, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Québec

[edit]

Hi! In your user page, you mention "Québec". That spelling is only in French, and I can't see that you are French man. Why do you write that spelling? /HeyMid (contributions) 14:28, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Simply because I prefer to use the form of the language of origin whenever possible, whether it's written or pronunciation. –Schmloof (talk · contribs) 18:11, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
