Hi Seantyrer, thanks for contributing to wikipedia. Unfortunately for copyright reasons we usually can't accept materials copied directly from other sources, especially if they are law firms which might sue us, LOL. Kappa 10:54, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand your recent deletion on this page - describing them as offenders and asking to desist. The points you changed were actually correct! Will revert unless you can justify. Brookie :) - a collector of little round things! (Talk!) 09:29, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note - keep on in there! I am an IP for my job and do quite a few of these things - and know how they work! Brookie :) - a collector of little round things! (Talk!) 10:49, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, while possibly well meaning, adding links to the same website in multiple articles is often regarded as spamming. This is especially the case when the links are added to articles that aren't relavent, e.g Iva is a disambigution page, and shouldn't have external links. Please read WP:EL for guidelines on adding external links, in the mean time I'm going to remove some of these links, if you object to any of these, please discuss on the talk page of the article in question rather than just putting them stright back in. cheers. MartinRe 13:59, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MartinRe, yes I understand the criteria however the I believe that the links are relevent as the relate to common terms that individuals will use Wikipedia as a source of reference. The IVA category would sit better as a sub-set of the Individual Voluntary Arrangement category so I plan to incorporate this. I notice that you had added commercial links in the past (Payplan and a debt questions site link to one of their refering sites?)and we had discussed this via a third party (Brookie)I will look at the deletions and maybe add them back in if I do not agree. I am a money advisor for my job so I have a good understanding of the debt advice industry which is why I monitor the links etc. Best regards Sean
I don't believe I ever added payplan links to articles, I think I questioned Brookie on why he removed them at the time, but never put them back in.
If you are a money advisor, why not add the information to the articles itself, rather than just adding links? regards, MartinRe 14:18, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
?? I did actually start the categories that you are editing so I dont understand your point about text - I could and will expand as i see fit MartinRe. What I do understand is that I have got better things to do than argue about this with you. The change you made to the IVA abbreviation is fine so far a I am concerned MartinRe so I do not plan to change this back. Let us agree to disagree on the Payplan links shall we?
I apologise if you interpreted my comment as that you were only inserting links and not contributing text, on hindsight I can see how it could be understood that way, but that is not how it was meant. What I meant was that it's more useful for wikipedia to have the information on what happens in situation X in an IVA/bankruptcy written in text form in wikipedia, rather than have the user to go to an external site, load a video and hear someone say that same information. I'll agree to differ on the payplan links, btw :) MartinRe 14:56, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey MartinRe - no worries and I take your point. I do plan to expand the text shortly so hopefully we can offer sufers more choice as to how they digest the information. Kind regards, Sean
That's cool, it's very useful to have someone working in the field contributing. One of the reasons I prefer text in wiki to external video, is that the former is easy to update if the law changes (as it is wont to do!), or even to simply clarify a point by rewording it, whereas the online video is fixed, and may become incorrect if not monitored for changes. Do you know if the people responsibe for the site update their videos often? MartinRe 15:42, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(reduced indent for readibility)

Hi, MartinRe yes they do so it is a good source (I often advise clients to view the video clips as they are, for a lot of people, a more interesting way of absorbing the information at leisure) Are you an IFA or in another financial field if you dont mind me asking? Not a lot of people seem to be interested in good debt advice until they actually need it ! lol Regards Sean

Nope, not an IFA, although I considered being an actuary at one time. I always have an interest in personal finance (enforced by dealing with a dodgy ifa once) so try and keep up to date. Personly the best time to get advice is before you get into debt in the first place :) MartinRe 15:57, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please read "Links normally to be avoided" on this page Wikipedia:External links. AlistairMcMillan 17:02, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just in case you didn't read the page I linked above, the part I was hoping you'd read under "Links normally to be avoided" is Links that are added to promote a site, that primarily exist to sell products or services, with objectionable amounts of advertising.... Given that the site exists to advertise their services and given that their phone number and "Chat now with a..." links exist on every single page myvesta clearly comes under the "Links normally to be avoided" category.
Also given that you appear to work as a Senior Advisor for Myvesta... again it isn't appropriate. AlistairMcMillan 20:39, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry but looking through the pages history all I can see is you removing every other link to a company providing the same services as Myvesta, while insisting that the links to Myvesta stay.
I'm sure there are other websites that provide useful information on the subject, but aren't advertising products/services, perhaps you could link some of them.
BTW If you want these links included, given that you obviously have a bias, the thing to do is suggest the links on the relevant talk pages and let other editors decide. AlistairMcMillan 16:51, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the other links, but please stop linking your employers website. Whether your employer charges people upfront or not, they do benefit from their services being advertised on Wikipedia. Especially when you've been so fastidious in removing links to their competitors.

Sorry but if you really think the site is a good resource, then propose that it is linked on the relevant Talk pages and let other non-employees decide. AlistairMcMillan 20:59, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
