Welcome to Wikipedia from Harkey Lodger[edit]

Hi, Shardachimegawe. I welcome you to Wikipedia! Thank you for all of your edits. I hope you like editing here and being part of Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); when you save the page, this will turn into your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or put {{helpme}} (and what you need help with) on your talk page and someone will show up very soon to answer your questions. You also might want to consider being "adopted" by an experienced user, who can show you how Wikipedia works through a program called "Adopt-a-User". Again, welcome! In response to your feedback[edit]

Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
You can create your own personal sandbox to experiment.
How do I create an article?
Please read how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one. Be sure to add references (citations) to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?

After adding a fact editors have to add a reference so that others can check that it is real. To be accepted it must be from a reliable source such as a book, a journal, a newspaper or a trusted website.

  • To add references you must first have a special section for them at the bottom of the page by typing this: ==References== then adding <references/> directly underneath. (This makes the references that you put into the text appear in the correct place under the heading.)

You should end up with this:

References

  • You can start adding new text to the article and every time you add or change a fact you put a reference at the end of the sentence.
  • You can use your Wikipedia toolbar at the top of the editing screen to make things easier for you.

There is a "Cite" toolbar at the top of the edit window which allows you to automatically generate the required wiki code.

You click one of the templates, e.g. "book", and fill in the details.

More information can be found in Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or the citations tutorial (the below video will play best in Firefox or Chrome):

Why can't I edit some pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can edit any semi-protected page. Some pages are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them.
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving articles about certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Let me know on my talk page if I can help.
