As reviewing administrator, I had to delete he article on The Secret Life of Owen Skye.

The first part is a straight copy from the article on the author in the Canadian Encyclopedia. The second part is composed of sections from http://www.winnipegreview.com/wp/2011/05/alan-cumyn-on-the-future-of-books/, http://www.quillandquire.com/reviews/review.cfm?review_id=3545, and http://www.amazon.com/The-Secret-Life-Owen-Skye/dp/0888995067.

This is not permitted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. Everything you write for us must be your own original work. Wikipedia does not accept material copied from other sources unless it is in the public domain, or released to us under a free license (It is, by the way, not necessary for pages to have a notice to be copyright: everything published on the internet or elsewhere is copyright to the owner of that content unless specified otherwise.)

Please never copy this way from an outside source again, be absolutely certain that there is not just no copying , but no Close paraphrase. If there is, rewrite that part from scratch, changing not just the words, but the arrangement into sentences and the sequence of ideas.

Alan Cumyn is a notable author, and The Secret Life of Owen Skye probably notable by itself also, but if you wish to rewrite the article, you might want to consider instead writing it as an article on the Owen Skye trilogy. When you do that, include a section on the publication of the book, then a section on plot, based either on full published summaries not copied, but cited, and your own reading of it. Then include a section listing the reviews it has received, including information about prizes. Any librarian can help you find this material. It is not necessary to give an biography of the author--he has his own article here already.

Please stay here and write, but learn to write without copying or plagiarizing. DGG ( talk ) 00:25, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
