Is rail gauge what you're looking for?

[edit]

Yes, thank-you very much! I've just removed my petition. --surueña 13:38:20, 2005-08-03 (UTC)

Northern Ireland

[edit]

Hi. I noticed you unsorted the UK-rail-stub for Downpatrick Railway Museum. As it's in Northern Ireland it is actually in the UK. Our Phellap 18:32, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

West coast wilderness cleanup

[edit]

Thanks for your attention on this one. Maybe you'de like to check emu bay railway as well and see what you think of that one.

1. I do have a question seeing you are an rail admin person, coming from an english background I get very concerned by the dominance of the word railroad, when a large part of the worlds railways (ie british commonwealth) use the term railway! any comment?
2. Railway companies. A large number of countries have 'national' ie government railways which were never autonomous companies in their existence, so the railways of the world (ok railroads to you guys)

are not companies! any comment? Best Wishesvcxlor 08:33, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Bo, RE: "line break to prevent severe indentation with the images"... What did it do (except push the TOC down below the pictures)? I can't see what effect it has? WikiDon 03:23, 14 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading Images

[edit]

Hey Slambo,

Thanks for the work you do on wiki.

I wanted to put rail pictures on my articles. What is the procedure? Let's say I see a picture on railpictures.net that I want to use. I contact the photographer and get his permission, do I need to ask him for a specific type of permission, or just to post it on wikipedia?

What "license" do I use?

Also, any places you'd recommend for looking up railroad logos? I'd like to use Pioneer RailCorp's logo from their website, how would I go about doing that?

Need you help/expertise on something

[edit]

Someone dumped a bunch of infomation in the EMD SD45T-2 page. There is good infomation, but the entire thing has to be wikified. I don't know quite what to do with it. Some of the stuff will have to go. Also to make it worse, the author did not cite his source and there obviously is one. I figured you would know what to do.--Spot87 01:44, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thats exactly what I was thinking, thanks for the help, Slambo. --Spot87 01:56, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Kinzua Viaduct

[edit]

I wrote Kinzua_Bridge_State_Park, but maybe it's title won't accomodate railfans who are looking for the bridge/viaduct itself. What would you suggest? Maybe create a "Kinzua Viaduct" page and redirect? Existent80 15:45, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

Disambigs

[edit]

I've also made huge disambig pages like Union Railroad - let me know if you need any made. --SPUI (talk) 10:56, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Famous person

[edit]

Nice to read about a famous person in WP:SIGN. :) BTW, I don't know if I remember telling you this but http://irfca.org has allowed complete free use to all its text. As far as images are concerned, the webmaster has told me that some induvidual uploaders might not want to release it, so it would be better to verify with him beforehand. We've uploaded a few images from that site, it is categorised under commons:category:Photographs by IRFCA. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 12:11, August 25, 2005 (UTC)

Request: Van Halen Article Review

[edit]

Hello, I've been doing a lot of work on the Van Halen article and would appreciate it if you would give it a review. You had made some objections before for the article becoming a FAC and I'd like to know if those concerns have been rectified. Thanks for your help. --Chevan 20:00, August 25, 2005 (UTC)

rail stubs

[edit]

Your comment about rail stubs vs. US rail stubs noted. However, it's not always an efficient use of time or brainpower to determine the most specific tag applicable in every single case (I for one neither have them all memorised, nor do I undertake to look them up in any given instance), and I think it's more useful to employ an accurate, if not necessarily most precise, stub category, than to leave a stub entirely untagged, or with some still more general stub tag. Isn't the logic of having hierarchical stub categories to have hierarchical sorting of same, after all? Alai 03:08, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
