Punctuation and quotes
Hi, I disagree with this edit, since in this context the quotes around "danger" and "clear" are being used to indicate technical terms, and are not being used to indicate what somebody said or wrote. It's also a sentence fragment, not a complete sentence, so the full stop belongs outside the quotes, per MOS:LQ.
However, this edit was valid, since a complete sentence is being quoted (I've just checked my copy of Red for Danger). --Redrose64 (talk) 17:51, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Tense
Hi, re this DYK: not just "were", but "still are". Although they've not been shown on the front of trains for 35 years, they're found in the impressions left by the clippers of the ticket examiners (I've got some right here: one is stamped 2P66 and dated 1 July 2012; another is stamped 1R23 and dated 8 August 2012). See Working timetable (WTT) at Network Rail, and follow May 2012 - December 2012 then PA and open PA04.fm You'll find 2P66 (also known as the 16:07 Oxford to London Paddington) in the row titled "Signal ID", on page 193 (of 327) column 213; also on page 233 column 178. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:10, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Cool, thanks for the info. Being on the other side of the Atlantic, I am still reading about regular practices there. The text for the DYK item today was basically copy/pasted from the article text. I took the first two sentences of section 1.2 and adjusted them into one sentence and found a different photograph that better showed the four-character code.
