Spark Fun Electronics is an advertisement

[edit]

The article Spark Fun Electronics has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Thank you. - KrakatoaKatie 03:52, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this page should be undeleted. Many companies have an entry on Wikipedia, yet they do not get tagged as an advertisement. If it seemed overly promotive of Sparkfun Electronics, it was simply because the page was new and had not developed into a full article yet. I suggest that it be given a second chance. -crgwbr —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.121.93.84 (talk) 23:19, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree the page should not have been deleted at all. In its original form it simply outlined the history of how Sparkfun Electronics came to be and detailed there development of a number of homebrew reflow soldering systems. No where in the article was it even close to resembling an advertisement. A user on the Parallax forums is the one claiming to have gotten the ball rolling on this deletion due to a chip on his shoulder against Sparkfun. The entry should be reinstated and given time to mature. -An outside observer
