Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 12:55, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was not aware of the rule about promotional user names. I am aware now. I am the author of a book which is referenced in several articles. Several people have pointed out to me that the references are to an out of print and out of date edition of the book (published in 1993). I was trying to update the references to the current edition of the book (published in 2021). I was attempting to make the content of the article more current as the newer edition of the book contains relevant corrections. I am not compensated in any way for updating the reference.

Decline reason:

I have renamed your account, which resolves the username issue. Your edits could be interpreted as advertising your book. Please review conflict of interest and tell us how you will go about making edits related to your book or website in a manner consistent with our policies, and also describe any other edits you wish to make as a general contributor. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:19, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I have reviewed the conflict of interest section. While I am the author of the book referred to in posted articles, I am not a paid author. The book, Standard Securities Calculation Methods, has been in print since 1973 and is the industry standard reference book for fixed income calculations (the subject of the articles I am attempting to edit). I have been the co-author or author since 1986. The book is used by the financial services industry as the reference source for the formulas and methods described in the Wikipedia articles I was attempting to edit. Some of the rules and recommended practices from the book which are referenced in the Wikipedia articles have been changed since the 1993 edition of the book was published by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. The Wikipedia articles has incorrect information beyond just referring to an out of date edition of the book. I am just trying to provide more accurate information to your readers. Most of the pages I am trying to edit are asking for "additional citations for verification". I am trying to help. I am a recognized industry expert in the subject area of the articles I am trying to edit. If also being an author of a reference book on the subject matter disqualifies me from editing articles I will be surprised but understand. Thank you for your consideration.

Request reason:

As requested I have read the guidance for expert editors and understand the content. I am happy to do whatever else you would like me to do to get my account unblocked. I am trying to correct inaccuracies in articles that purport to use as a reference books that I am the author of. My only goal is to provide accurate information. It is the same reason I volunteered my time to author the industry reference books in question.

Decline reason:

Hi ImaohwBK, please provide specific examples for helpful contributions without a conflict of interest that you would like to make, but that are currently prevented by a block. The community portal and the Task Center contain helpful ideas. There is no time limit for doing so; if you are currently not able to provide specific examples, please do not yet request an unblock. It is also very unlikely that you will be unblocked to continue editing about your own publications, even if you do so with the best intentions and underestimate your conflict of interest. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:39, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
