Citing references
[edit]Hello! There is some great information on how to cite your sources at Wikipedia:Citing sources. There are quite a few ways of citing sources; Wikipedia:Footnotes is my favourite. You should also check out Wikipedia:Introduction. Hope this helped! If you have more questions, please ask! — getcrunk what?! 14:39, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Excuse me but I found that when I am accessing WikiPedia Website currently, I am unable to edits ome articles I was contributing to yesterday due to a "Bazzajf block". Can I just clarify this situation by explaining that this computer is an internet station in our Irish Government Documentation Centre here on Mount St. in Dublin 2. It is used frequently by many users including members of the public when it is available to them during a two hour window during the day. Outside of this window it is used most frequently by 3 or 4 other employees and now I have been directed here by suggestion from some of them. I am aware of the gentleman in question (a fellow employee) who has been blocked because he has mentioned it to someone else who mentioned it to me. I don't see how I should be held responsible for somebody else's actions, furthermore, as I have previously commented, this station is used by several users and if any of them wish to access the Wikipedia Website, then I feel they should be entitled to the same rights and have the same responsibilities as everyone else. I am wondering how this situation can be resolved, I requested the unblock through direction from the page but I am uncertain as to what happens next. Please advise.Starsweep 09:40, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
This was the message when I attempted to edit
Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by Andrew Norman for the following reason (see our blocking policy): Blocked User:Bazzajf evading block Your IP address is 62.77.181.16.
- I've unblocked the IP address. However, if Bazzajf tries to edit anonymously again, I'll block it again. He's blocked for a month for a reason. --ajn (talk) 13:59, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- And reviewing the situation, it's clear that you are Bazzajf. Two months, now. --ajn (talk) 08:13, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Excuse me but I notice now that having logged in again I personally have been banned as what's known as a sockpuppet of bazzajf. I find this action highly objectionable. The reason I used this research station to access Wikipedia was when I heard a colleague tell me about user bazzajf's travails with this site. I hit the "History" button tagging the link and I registered as a User. For you to assume that I am some sort of doppelganger of bazzajf is grossly unfair. You can check my edits and they are all and will continue to be in good faith as I have no interest in disrupting this service as my colleague appears to have done. Furthermore, as I previously explained this research station is open for use here in the Documentation Centre to members of the public for two hours a day and should they decide to edit on this popular website, they should be within their rights to do so. I do not see what recourse I have in this matter other than to protest here on this userpage. How can I prove that I am not user:bazzajf to you as I am not. Please advise on my options as even though I will edit on this site infrequently as I do not have the necessary time, and that I will edit in good faith which I note is an underlying principle, I am still dismayed that I have been embargoed for a fellow employee's actions. - Denied looking at it, I agree it seems that you are indeed one in the same person. Regarding "rights", editing wikipedia is a privilege not a right. --pgk(talk) 08:53, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
