Notes on this draft format

[edit]
  1. Many bloodlines mentioned on other pages (Bloodline (World of Darkness) and Vampire: The Masquerade) are missing from here. If you look at the source you'll see I've included them but commented them out. That's because I either don't have the suitable source texts handy to cite a reference (in particular I don't have my Dark Ages books handy) or I'm not familiar with the bloodline at all, so I can't condone their inclusion. If you can cite a source, please do reinstate them and include a brief description.
    1. Aside from the books that I don't have with me (Clanbook Baali and Clanbook Salubri are particularly missed) there are also some very early books I don't have (included Vampire: The Masquerade first edition which should be a reference for the seven Camarilla clans) and some of the last books (notably all of the revised Clanbooks). Please fill in the gaps. Although I have admittedly rewritten this entire page, this is still a collaborative effort. :-D
  2. I've used the names of the original clan founders since splitting things out by clan makes things a little unwieldy. I say this on the grounds that the clans changed over time, so what is and isn't a clan is unclear.
  3. The list is in alphabetical order of antediluvian, followed then by a roughly chronological order of descent. This is slightly awkward, I feel. But if someone's looking for a particular bloodline, they can always search the page for the text, and the content does at least have a fixed upper bound since this game world is no longer expanding.
  4. For the footnotes, I've used the current system described at WP:FN. Most of the references are multiple as the main rulebooks can each present many bloodlines in one supplement. The names I've used for the references are the White Wolf product codes as these are precise and specific.
    1. When multiple blodlines are presented in a book, the first bloodline to appear on this page is the one that has the full reference text after it (see the source code for the page to see how I've done it). For example Nosferatu get the full text link to Vampire: The Masquerade even though Brujah are the first from that book to be listed on this page. This is because otherwise the text for the link will not display in the references section. If you reorder any bloodlines, be aware of this fact.
    2. It would be possible to cite even more books as references, but I have only included those that contain a significant amount of information on each bloodline (and always including the first book to present them as a playable bloodline). For example, Children of Osiris were introduced in The Hunters Hunted but only briefly mentioned in A World of Darkness: Mummy; the latter book would be suitable as a reference for a page specifically on the Children of Osiris (although I don't think that they are notable enough to merit this) but not on this page.
  5. The bulk of the page Vampire: The Masquerade is taken up with a list of clans and bloodlines. I think that should be massively pared down with a link to the content on this page instead. At the most, mention the clans with a brief description. Having the clan founders' names and all the minor bloodlines is a little too much detail for the main page on the game.

Have adapted the fine work on this page for the new Antideluvians page. Cameronmurtagh 05:07, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
