Date formats
[edit]Pardon me, but the ISO date standard is not American usage; I suspect that it is more common in the EU. Regardless, it is clear that you have not set your preferences so that properly linked dates will appear the way that you like. Look up above and you will see a link labeled "my preferences." Click it and you can tell WP how you want dates to appear when you open a page. You should also read Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers), since you are incorrectly formatting dates. By linking only the month and day, and not the year (e.g., [[3 July]] 1954) you see "3 July 1954," which is correct for you, but I see "July 3 1954," which is not correct for me, since there is no comma.
So, you need to enter dates like this: [[3 July]] [[1954]], and then everybody with preferences set will see it the way that they want. Others eeill see it in English format. Meanwile, I am going to stop using the ISO format, because it annoys new users. Even though it is an accepted format, I just saw at the style page linked to above that it is discouraged.--Hjal 19:44, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
