macOS Ventura toolbar icons

[edit]

I wasn't able to reply to your message on my talk page, so I'm replying here and quoting your message. I'm currently using macOS Ventura 13.5.2 on a MacBook Air M2, and can't reproduce that "puff of smoke" poof animation when holding the Command key, dragging the Bluetooth icon out of the toolbar area in the upper right of the screen, and making it disappear. Like in the Dock, it does still provide audio feedback to indicate that it's being removed. I suppose that I could try installing Ventura on an older Intel device made by Apple to further test this, but a larger issue here is that your source has no citation and I'm also unable to verify it. Content with no cited source is often just removed on Wikipedia.

@Syro U473t8+E: I can verify that the poof animation is present in macOS Ventura and prior on my intel models. Try dragging a Finder toolbar icon off to remove it, as well as in Safari. It is still present in native toolbars. Are you unable to reproduce this? Syro U473t8+E (talk) 16:14, 23 October 2023 (UTC) Jarral (talk) 18:44, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jarral‬: You're confusing the menu bar and an application toolbar. It is reproducible in toolbars and the reason that it is not cited is because nobody has reported on it yet unfortunately. This change coincided with the deprecated of the animation post-WWDC when the first beta of Sonoma was released: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appkit/nsanimationeffect/poof
