Simplified characters and Chinese family names
[edit]Hi Takkyuu,
First of all, [belatedly] welcome to Wikipedia! It looks like you've been making a lot of great edits and already have a good handle on how everything works!
I just wanted to say, I noticed you've been adding characters to the {{Chinese name}} templates at the top of articles (ie, replacing Zhou with Zhou (周)); I don't know if there's an official MoS policy on this, but I'm pretty sure it's not necessary, since the Chinese characters are generally given at the very beginning of the lead sentence and again in the infobox...and the majority of articles on Chinese people don't have the character in the {{Chinese name}} template, so for consistency it's probably better not to have it. I just figured I should explain my rationale here, so you don't get discouraged if you see me reverting some of your edits. Other than this one thing, everything you've been doing looks great.
Thanks, Politizer talk/contribs 15:00, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
