Spelling on Wikipedia, Username policy, etc.
[edit]Hi there. Wikipedia is not more than five years old, and an entire morass of obscure policies has evolved. Unfortunately, we seem to moslty teach new users about them only after they have inadvertently violated one or more of them. Sorry about that. You may wish to look at some of the policies linked fromt he "welcome" above.
Spelling:"Two nations seperated by a common language." You "corrected" the following: Authorisation ==> Authorization. As it happens, the origional is a proper spelling of the word in most of the english-speaking world, and we all share the "english" wikipedia. In order to avoid endless editing and re-editing, we have a policy thta an article's spedding should not be converted from the "british" spelling to the "american" spelling, or vice versa. This takes some getting used to, but it mostly seems to work out OK. My own spelling is horrible, so please feel free to clean up after me, but don't
Corporate user names: A user name is supposed to be for one individual. Shared accounts are not allowed. Furthermore, user names that appear to be the name of an organization are considered suspect. I recomend that you abandon this account and start a new one with your name.
Getting help: If you need help with anything, Just put a message here and add {{helpme}} somewhere in the message. Someone will be along to answer. Don't get discouraged, and good luck! -Arch dude (talk) 19:18, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
