Thanks for contacting me about this, and I am sorry that something I have said has come across as insulting. The article was deleted pursuant our criteria for speedy deletion G11, advertising. Another editor also raised the concern at the time of issues with A3, a short article which provides extremely limited content. My decision was based, at the time, on the content of the article. At the time it was deleted, the content of the article was one sentence saying the hotel was "rich in history" and giving the year of founding.
Speedy deletion exists because every day Wikipedia gets hundreds or thousands of articles which are not within the scope of the project as an encyclopedia. In this case it seemed that improving the article to be within the scope of the project would be simply rewriting the article from scratch. That is not to say that an appropriate article could not be written, merely that as written it was not within the scope of the project.
There is nothing in speedy deletion which prohibits resubmission of a rewritten article. If the original author would like to write an improved article and post it, that is certainly fine (if he'd like to take the original text to use, I would be happy to get that for him). While I can understand your interest in the article, you may not be the best person to write the article yourself, due to our conflict of interest guideline. Key concerns to address in creating a new article
- Notability, demonstrate why this is not merely a business but has a long history. Mentioning the register of historic places is good, if it was discussed in the media or played a part in any historic events, that might be worth mentioning.
- Neutral point of view. Wikipedia is intended to be written neutrally, without promotional language. Sourcing claims to reliable sources is a good step in this process too.
