Ishtar[edit]

Unfortunately, your edits to this article have not been ultimately too useful. The term "Lucifer" in a Christian context comes from Isaiah 14:12 (see brief discussion on the article Satan), and any claimed Ishtar connection would have to be specifically sourced. Further, the "backsliding" non-monotheistic Israelites or Jews of Old Testament times had plenty of local Canaanite gods and goddesses to draw on, and in most cases really did not have to seek to Mesopotamia to find something to worship. Again, any claimed Ishtar connection would have to be specifically sourced. AnonMoos (talk) 17:29, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Edit by the Bloody owl: Read Ezek. 8:14. It blantantly acknowledges the queen of heaven wheeping for her son Tammuz.
The myth of Tammuz became somewhat dissociated from specifically-Mesopotamian religion, and spread fairly widely into a number of cultures (even into Greece under the name "Adonis"). It's still not specific evidence for Hebrews worshipping Ishtar. And no, it is not the case that Ishtar "is" Isis, though the two later became syncretized in some cases...
