Speedy deletion tags

[edit]

FYI - If a speedy deletion tag is added to a page you create - please note that it says:

If this page obviously does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, or you intend to fix it, please remove this notice, but do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself. --Brat32 21:42, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The tag was added before I even created the article, with the subject "It is a very short article providing little or no context "; obviously it is a joke or not valid - the reason cited would exist for absolutely any article on wikipedia, since they're empty before creation!TheTruthSeeker 23:02, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry but it was not a joke, when I looked at the page, it was not empty, but had such minimal content it appeared to be a joke article and I tagged it correctly. By removing the tag, you are not following the correct protocol - which exist for good reason. I do realize now that you creating a serious page.
The first version said "placeholder" since, well, it was. Required content was added within minutes. I have fixed the accidental removal of the notice. TheTruthSeeker 23:02, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Note that it quite normal for newly created pages to get deleted if they have minimal content, often within less than a minute. It is often better to put together the content in a text editor, and paste it into a new article. Please also read Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages and also note that using a colon at the start of a paragraph indents and makes dialogues easier to follow. --Brat32 22:08, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Editing within a text editor doesn't let me see how it would look/link on Wikipedia. But thanks for the signing/indent info.TheTruthSeeker 23:02, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
