Biography

[edit]

Early Life

[edit]

Denise Dampier Bernal was born Angela Denise Dampier on May 9th, 1975. Her father was Rudy Shaun Dampier. Her mother, Ada Mae Smith, passed away in 1979, when Denise Dampier was four years of age. Denise was homeschooled until the age of sixteen, when she was emancipated from her father, stating the reason for such as, "mental and physical abuse."

History of Abuse, and Eventual Emancipation

[edit]

Angela Denise Dampier lost her mother at the age of four, and would later state in her book that this was the cause of her apparent disconnect from people, and overall lack of empathy. She has stated that her father, Rudy, was an alchoholic, and would routinely beat her, and insult her. She would eventually, at the age of sixteen, request and be granted emancipation by Union County judge Derek Carter.

Later Life and First Marriage

[edit]

After her emancipation, Angela Dampier moved into the home of her cousin, Jaquelin Chastain. To earn a living, Angela started working as a prostitute, earning herself three seperate arrests over the next two years of her life. This line of work would end when she met her first husband, Daniel Calbrone. She was married to Daniel lasted from June 6th, 1993, until January 18th, 1998. Her husband, Daniel, was found at their Lake Butler home, drowned in a bathtub. There were no signs of forced entry into the house, but the doors to their home were unlocked. Union County Sheriffs Office Sheriff Rick Morty ruled the cause of death as suicide.

  • [[Daniel Calbrone] (June 5th, 1972 – January 18th, 1998) Angela Denise Dampier's late husband.

Fallout and Scandal

[edit]

After the investigation into her late husband's death, Angela was left with immense debt, and refused to go back to her previous manner of living. She moved to Gainesville, Florida, and started working for the Alachua County Tax Collector's office.

During her time at the Alachua County Tax Collector's Office, Angela was known to have relationships with men and women that would frequent the building. She made local news first on March 3rd, 2001, when WCJB, a local television channel, aired an interview with five men and three women, who claimed that Angela had been stealing from them, and simultaneously having relationships with each of them, to the shock of all those involved. This brought attention to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, and an investigation was made. Angela would be found guilty of credit card fraud, identity theft, larceny for less than $500, fraud for less than $1000, conspiracy to commit fraud, and uttering a bad check. Angela Calbrone was sentenced to two years one month at Alachua County Jail, where she served nine months.

Final Marriage and Book

[edit]

After her release, Angela started going by her her middle name, Denise. Around February, 2002, she met Paul A, Bernal, and began to pursue him. She would later remark in her book that shechose him because she, "...needed someone stable and easy, someone who needed anyone in their life." Paul and Denise would be wed two months later. She drove Paul's family away, banning him from seeing them. The family reported that they believed her to be stealing from Paul, and preventing him from leaving home when he was not at work. No charges have been filed to date, and the couple is still married, currently residing in Palatka, Florida, despite the revelations in her book.

Philosophical and Political Views

[edit]

Denise Dampier Bernal has stated in her book that she supports increasing the availability of welfare, is pro-abortion, and considers herself to be very liberal, as well as a feminist, as written in her book. "See, if this stuff was easier to do, easier to get, my life would've been better." She was quoted in a recent interview with WCJB in January, 2014. "I should not have been born, but the option was too expensive, too taboo. Welfare wasn't enough, so I had to do what I had to do. I am an example of a woman struggling in a man's world, and how we can turn it into a world for us, where men work for us."

Published works

[edit]

Denise "Angela" Dampier Bernal published her autobiography, "How to steal more than a man's heart. His happiness, his money, his everything" in November, 2013. In it, she details her own account of her life, her reasons for her crimes, and her political views. The book has sold over 20,000 copies, and has made local Florida and Georgia news, being panned by locals and news agencies for representing a negative extreme of feminism, anti-religious views, justification of violent crimes, and was referred to by an Ocala reporter, Stephen Frintz, as, "A how-to guide for feminazi murderers everywhere."
