[edit]The paragraph in which you added the sentence is Etymology, which describes the meaning and origin of the word "Tamil". Thirukural is indeed a old epic, but thirukural has nothing to do with etymology of the word "Tamil", i.e Thirukural doesn't explain about the meaning or origin of the tamil language.
