Topgun, can you tell me that is this source primary or not. The source is on the battle of asal uttar which states 32 tank losses on indian side and 97 on Pakistan side. As i read primary sources are not acceptable [[1]] Zerefx (talk) 00:43, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Zerefx, it's a reliable source in general but being primary or secondary relates to who the author is (in case the author's opinion / facts are being cited) or who the author is quoting (when a quote from the book is being cited). In this case the author directly appears to be mentioning the figures so you will need to review the author's background whether they represent Indian military or government (in which case it would be primary), otherwise not. Apart from that, you can check what many other RS say about the figures and if there are conflicting figures there are ways to mention that by attributing the figures to the authors and creating ranges in the infobox. If you like you can also take it to WP:RSN. --lTopGunl (talk) 07:00, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for clearing my doubt. So can i post it in battle of asal uttar ? And also i did posted a link before which stated the same thing that 32 tanks were destroyed in battle of asal uttar. And that link was from a book written by an Indian army major. But my source was rejected by some one last time, claiming that it was a primary source [[2]] Zerefx (talk) 09:37, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, you can but if some one objects, you can refer to this or take it to WP:RSN and let neutral editors decide. If you expect opposition, better source it with 3-4 sources (if available) to start with. I've same perspective on the second source. --lTopGunl (talk) 14:06, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
