Some conventions[edit]

When I first looked at the article schismatic temperament, I had to read beyond the first sentence to realize it was about music and not about a psychiatric disorder. So I added the initial words "In music,...". Similarly, a non-mathematician reading "Polish space" should not be required to get into the second paragraph before finding out that it's not about the counterpart of NASA in Poland or about negotiations concerning the border between Germany and Poland. So I put in the initial words "In mathematics,...". Very often, that's the appropriate way to do it.

Also, please note: one should highlight the title phrase at its first appearance (I've done this in Polish space), and one should not put "References" or "External links" or anything that the reader would normally see below the language and category tags, because those cause extra blank space between sections. If the number of languages or categories is big, the extra blank space can be huge. Michael Hardy 28 June 2005 20:13 (UTC)
