Information icon Hello, I'm Sumanuil. I noticed that you recently made an edit to Jacob Tremblay in which your edit summary did not appear to describe the change you made. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. A link to IMDB is not a photo. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 05:26, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Knitsey. I noticed that you recently removed content from Jacob Tremblay without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Either add a new photo or leave as is Knitsey (talk) 05:55, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I represent Jacob Tremblay and the photo that wikipedia is using is very outdated and we would like it deleted. We will eventually replace it, we just want this one deleted for now. Tworld963 (talk) 16:53, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You need to read the paid editing guide before making any more edits. AntiDionysius (talk) 16:55, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The guide explains a lot of things, including how you shouldn't be directly editing the article, but in a more immediate sense you should know "we would like it deleted" is not grounds for the removal of something from a Wikipedia page. Subjects of Wikipedia pages do not have the right to decide what is and isn't on those pages. AntiDionysius (talk) 16:57, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a link to where we can pay? Is it only a donation or a subscription Tworld963 (talk) 16:58, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia doesn't require payments to edit, that guide is explaining how to edit if you getting paid to do it. — BerryForPerpetuity (talk) 17:00, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am not getting paid I am his parent Tworld963 (talk) 17:04, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, in that case you merely have a conflict of interest. Read this guide instead. It works very similarly to the restrictions on paid editing: you should not edit the article directly, but instead request edits on the discussion page. AntiDionysius (talk) 17:05, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I took "I represent Jacob Tremblay" to mean that you are employed or contracted by him in some way, which would constitute being paid to edit. AntiDionysius (talk) 17:04, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is a request from Jacob himself. Tworld963 (talk) 17:07, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that, but that's not reason to remove the picture. He does not get to decide what is on his Wikipedia page. AntiDionysius (talk) 17:09, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you have an alternate picture which you are willing to release copyright on (that is a prerequisite for image use on Wikipedia), you could suggest that it be used, and if it's better and more up to date it is quite likely that other editors will want to take you up on that offer. But the existing picture should stay in place for now. AntiDionysius (talk) 17:13, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to be discrete, is there anyone that can help us do this, I am not tech savvy. Tworld963 (talk) 17:06, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The guide explains it in quite simple terms and does not require any real knowledge of tech.
I'm afraid being discrete isn't really an option. If you want to request edits to the page, you have to be very explicit about your personal connection to the subject. AntiDionysius (talk) 17:08, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've left the coi notice below as they have contacted me regarding this (via an ip). Knitsey (talk) 17:10, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ok, thank you for your help Tworld963 (talk) 17:15, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So I am confused, is all I need to say is this photo is outdated. and are there any recent photos of him and that I have a coi as I am his parent, because the photo that originally changed his photo just said that? Tworld963 (talk) 17:21, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I mean the comment that originally changed his photo just said that Tworld963 (talk) 17:22, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What you need to do is not edit the page. If you want to see the page changed, you should go to Talk:Jacob Tremblay and explain what you would like to see changed and why, while also mentioning your COI.
Wanting an updated photo is a reasonable request but there would need to be a copyright-free photo available to replace the current one. AntiDionysius (talk) 17:27, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I just did it, fingers crossed, I did it right Tworld963 (talk) 17:33, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am going to try again, i appologize if I get this wrong again. Tworld963 (talk) 17:25, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
