A couple quick things[edit]

Hi UrbanPlanet BR,

I'm jonny-mt, an administrator here on Wikipedia. I've noticed your work on the Baton Rouge, Louisiana article (what can I say--I have to keep an eye on the old hometown!), and I wanted to stop by and note a couple of things.

  • First, I noticed that your username seems to match http://www.urbanplanet.org. Although usernames used for promotional purposes are prohibited by Wikipedia's username policy, you seem to be using yours simply to write about Baton Rouge, and so it's perfectly acceptable and you have nothing to worry about. However, if you plan on staying and contributing more to the encyclopedia (and I hope you do), you might want to consider changing your username so as to avoid questions about this down the road. Naturally, you're under no obligation to do so, but if you decide to change your username then you can file a request at Wikipedia:Changing username.
  • Second, I noticed that you're uploading a number of files under a free license for use in the Baton Rouge article. I don't know if you're aware, but the Wikimedia Foundation runs a sister project known as Wikimedia Commons, which is a free media depository. Basically, the idea is that any media file uploaded to a single wiki can only be used on that wiki, but media files uploaded to Wikimedia Commons can be used across every project run by the Wikimedia foundation--that is, every language version of Wikipedia, Wikinews, Wikiquotes, etc. You can find out more at the Commons home page or on this page.

Anyways, that's all from me. Keep up the good work, and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! --jonny-mt 08:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jonny, it's Dan326. I created this account to upload pictures from other members of Urban Plant, without claiming them as my own. Don't worry I'm not trying to promote anything. :) You should come check out the forum sometime and see all the exciting projects happening around town.--Dan326-mt 08:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: Image:BRball.JPG[edit]

Image:BRball.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Pennington Balloon Tournament.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Pennington Balloon Tournament.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 21:43, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
