Confidential Message Board[edit]

Hi, nothing that you write on wikipedia is confidential but at least there's potentially less foot traffic here. This way, you can send me a message if you don't want to shout it out to everyone else. This way, I'll also have a place to communicate with you without having everyone who visits my page read your thoughts (unless they snoop and dig deeper to here).

1. Thank you for your vote of confidence. However, I am not nearly ready to become an administrator. Furthermore, I'd probably get voted down because most successful candidate are here a few months and have a few thousand edits. 2. I consider the Pigeon Forge Police Department article to be "your baby". However, I think it needs a little work, especially why the department is unusual. My best guess to impress was that they have a SWAT (TRU) team. It may not be such a big deal, but I fear we need to come up with some angle or someone will tag the article for deletion. 2a. Think about improving the article. After a while, I try to think of something. I figure that we have at most a few days to act. Why can't they show a little mercy? 3. The "secret" link to here is the #2 blue box on your user talk page and the #1 blue box link near the top of my user talk page under "Montana Law Enforcement Agencies".VK35 02:04, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NEW: Way to go on the Pigeon Forge Police Dept. infobox!VK35 03:51, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey VK35![edit]

Hey!! Check out my new article Gatlinburg Fire Department. Thank You for showing me how to properly create a article. I've got a ton of info I'm adding pretty soon. Thanks for the excellent advice!!!!!!!!!! Harebag 01:01, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! Good start. Concentrate on that before creating other articles (just my opinion) otherwise you'll spread yourself too thin. Here's some possible ideas to consider (or reject).
Johnny Townsend is a fire code enforcer....What that? Perhaps an explanation in the article. Any thing different about that fire department? Any big fires?
[[1]] - Gatlinburg Firefighter, Steve Ebb checks the rain gauge at Headquarters. These gauges are part of Gatlinburg's Flood Warning System. (I didn't know about rain gauges and I didn't know the fire dept. is involved in flood warning. Also in this link, I didn't think about the fact that the GFD is involved in education.) [[2]] Oh, they have a ball. And the money goes to "Money raised from this event will be used to purchase smoke detectors, fire prevention equipment and training materials". I thought money from the police ball goes for beer and fun. Seriously! [[3]] They say: "The city's first fire department was all volunteer and headed up by Ralph "Doc" Shilling, Gatlinburg's resident doctor." That's really interesting (notability??) having a physician start the fire department. " In 1969, a paid department was formed" (worth mentioning???) How about this: "and an ATV (all terrain vehicle). " (funny??? Do they also have a Batmobile?) How about the list of memorable fires? Any of them memorable to the community and worth mentioning that it was significant to the community? Maybe the 1992 fire or the 1980 newspaper fire? Over here [[4]] says "Gatlinburg Fire/EMS Department is one of only four departments in Tennessee that run both fire and EMS with a class A ambulance service, so a lower ISO rating means a lot to such a department and to the citizens of the city. Gatlinburg's citizens get a lower rate of insurance due to our ISO rating." I didn't know this! Worthy of mention???VK35 01:37, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ply[edit]

Was that a joke about the 4 wheeler(ATV)?!Harebag 13:35, 14 April 2007 (UTC)(HA HA) Or did you think the whole departments a joke for a town that size(HA HA)?![reply]

No, I thought it was funny that a police dept. would have a 4 wheeler. Come to think of it, it's probably useful. I don't think the fire department is a joke. I thought it was interesting that the town doctor started it. I think the fire department is more worthy of an article that the Gatlinburg police department but it's up to you which you want to do (or both).VK35 20:36, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

here's a carrot in front of you

If you can improve an article (say the Gatlinburg FD or PD) and have it remain untagged for deletion (or if it is tagged, unfairly tagged) for at least a few days, I think you will be very deserving of a barnstar, particularly the Resilent Barnstar ( [[5]] ). If you don't make it, don't worry. I can award you the resilent barnstar for keeping on trying until you either create or edit a good article. Keep at it! (Oh, don't give me a barnstar! Eventually, I wouldn't mind getting a "The Random Acts of Kindness barnstar" and, if I contribute a lot and lots of edits to articles relating to Singapore then maybe the "Barnstar of National Merit" might be in order in a few months or years from now)VK35 23:33, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey![edit]

Check out my new article Sevier County Sheriff's Office. Do you think I have improved any? If I have it's thanks to you!Harebag 02:14, 15 April 2007 (UTC) It's a start...and a mad race to improve it before someone marks it for deletion! What a bummer! One small suggestions. Their renovations didn't cause the prison population to increase! The prison was enlarged to house an increased capacity to 214 prisoners. Just a tiny difference. (Way to go on that Pigeon Forge infobox!)VK35 03:53, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Row Row Row your boat![edit]

Look at my new article Gatlinburg Public Services. What do you think about it?

I'll look at it tomorrow. I'm in a big hurry now. Someone wrote to me and suspects that you may have a sockpuppet (reading between the lines). A sockpuppet is when one has a 2nd account. If used to support one's edits or to do things that you would be embarrassed to do, that's considered improper. On wikipedia, some people are on the lookout for sockpuppets then invoke harsh sanctions. Other times, people are too quick to accuse others of sockpuppetry. You can lookup "sockpuppet" for a more extensive definition as well as look up "SSP" to see people getting punished. Wikipedia also has a checkuser function for a select small group of administrators who can look up your IP address and make further conclusions. The person who came to me was concerned about some speedy deletion tags (or maybe wiping them out).VK35 01:45, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that article. Like that photo! Try to improve it. It is up for a vote whether to delete. Do NOT vote multiple times because if someone catches you, it's a big wikicrime.VK35 01:49, 22 April 2007 (UTC) Correction: It's not up for a vote! Whew!VK35 21:20, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean "up for a vote"?Harebag

I have had too much **** from other wiki users. I am offcially leaving Wikipedia and won't be coming back. That janejellyroll won't bug off. Thanks for being helpful.Harebag 20:57, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

welcome back??[edit]

Are you back in wikipedia? If so, welcome back! I am also guilty of starting an article that is too skimpy. Other times, I have kept in the enthusiasm and worked on a new article on a word processor (like MS Word or notepad). After working on it for a while, I cut and paste it to wikipedia so there's a bigger bang, i.e., the article is bigger and more complete. This way, it's less prone to being tagged for deletion. Has any of the police department that you wrote about been involved in any big crimes, such as a murder in a small town? Maybe that's a possible addition to the "History of the Department" section?VK35 16:35, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
