August 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in ROMK, makes articles harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. You may be right about ROMK, but comments on the correctness of the content belong on the talk page. Or you could just edit the content directly; but since the existing material also appears to be supported by citations, I recommend you discuss it on the talk page first. I have pasted a copy of your comment below. I will also add a welcome banner with links to Wikipedia procedures.

The above entry is incorrect.
ROMK is a potassium channel which may be up- or downregulated (via storage vesicles & deployment to cell membrane) depending on potassium concentrations. It is a PASSIVE channel, which allows potassium EFFLUX from cells. This is particularly important in renal tubular function, in the Thick Ascending Limb of the Loop of Henle. It is present on both the basolateral and luminal membranes of the TaLoH cells, allowing potassium efflux to both the tubular fluid, and interstitium. Potassium flow through these channels is driven by the Na+/K+ ATPase pump on the basolateral membrane (in fact, the Na+ concentration produced drives the Na/2Cl/K cotransporter, the ROMK channels, and the Cl Barttin channels).[1] RockMagnetist (talk) 17:00, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I can see your point. The reference I included with my edit supported it, so i'm not that entirely removing it on those grounds is warranted, however i will take it to the talk page, as you suggest. ah how frustrating it can be when content appears to be pretty much exactly incorrect! Thanks for the pointers, and I look forward to collaborating with you in future. Vinciture (talk) 06:07, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
