Sorry for my late reply (I haven't been very active on Wikipedia lately). You are right, the schematic is technically a mix of small signal and large signal models. This is actually a somewhat common practice in my experience, and I think it makes things simpler as it hides the unnecessary details of the biasing arrangement. I can see why it might confuse some people though; perhaps we can differentiate between real and small-signal grouds with a different symbol (maybe with dashes)? -Roger (talk) 02:30, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
