Take care not to add content that might be considered self-promotion[edit]

WP has alot of guidelines and policies that new editors stumble over. That's OK and expected. Making contributions to the encyclopedia is what we encourage. However WP isn't for self-promotion or commercial promotion. Adding links to external websites that are clearly connected with you personally are generally considered inappropriate. WP:EL gives a good account of what is and is not acceptable. The other challenge new editors face is understanding the relationship of WP content to reliable sources WP:RS and WP:V. Any content added to an article should not only be relevant to the article topic, but also verifiable to reliable sources. What you KNOW is not a reliable source. What you KNOW ABOUT however is a valuable asset to the community and encyclopedia. Ensure content you add is attributable to reliable sources and relevant to the article topic. When it comes to articles related to fly fishing, try and avoid HOW TO content as that is not considered encyclopedic and WP is first and foremost an encyclopedia not a how-to-fly fish guide, If you have any questions and want any advice I will be glad to help you out and gain some experience as an editor. Hi Mike, I know Bruce and he know me. I was the vice president of EFFA (former FFF-Europe)from beginning till end of 2014. I also know a few other guys from the bord oG, like Tom Jindra, Dan McCrimmon and so on. The reason for the picture was, that anybody talked in the articel about strike indicators, so I did the picture and add it to the Wikipedia picture part(no link to my home!) The link to my page comes out of the idea to add further informations about strike indicators. And, excuse me, to have a link from Wiki is always like a dream. I appreciate that you offer your help. For example: The pheasant tail has a link to a store and you see directly prices, why is this allowed? For sure, I have a store on my homepage, too, but I tried to avoid the link to the store. Maybe you can tell me, how it has to be, that the link is ok Sorry for my bad english, best regards, Wolfgang PS: One of my former reps live in Bozeman, Montana, too.
