Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to List of mass spectrometry software. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 11:07, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Yaroslav, thanks for responding on my talk page. As suggested above, the best thing you can do is to go to the article's talk page and suggest there that the link be added, and explain why. Then if a user who doesn't have a conflict of interest agrees that it is beneficial for the encyclopedia, they can add the link for you. I understand that it can seem a slow or frustrating way to do things (and yes, you are right, those who are dishonest and don't disclose who they are might be able to 'get away with' self promotion without us noticing), but we do work hard to avoid promotional and conflict of interest editing, and we really appreciate you working with us on that. I hope you are able to find some ways you can use your expertise to contribute to the encyclopedia while you are here! Cheers, Melcous (talk) 13:11, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
