Bob Collymore

[edit]

Greetings, Zelda6666, and thank you for your edits to the Bob Collymore article. I see you have tried three times now to update the number of his children from 4 to 2; this change has been reverted by three different editors, including me a few minutes ago. I did not revert it because I necessarily think you are incorrect, but because after two reverts by two editors, we should really have a discussion about it before we make any more changes. If you think we should change the number to two, you are welcome to make your case on the article's talk page. There we can come to a consensus as a community as to what the number in the infobox should be.

In general, if another editor reverts a change you have made and you believe your version to be correct, rather than simply making the same change again, I would recommend either posting on the article's talk page or that of the editor who reverted you. It’s far more productive to discuss it and come to an agreement rather than edit-war back and forth.

One final small suggestion: I noticed that you have marked each of your edits as minor, which should only be used to indicate a purely inconsequential and uncontroversial edit, like fixing spelling or punctuation. If you think anyone might object to your edit for any reason, you should avoid categorizing your edit as minor, as minor edits are often filtered out on watchlists and the recent changes page. Because Mr. Collymore's number of children is material and open to interpretation (he does have four children, but two of them are stepchildren), it would not be considered inconsequential. The fact that it has been reverted twice previously reinforces that. There is never an issue with leaving that checkbox unchecked, even if the edit is truly minor. You are absolutely welcome to continue to make edits where you think they are appropriate, but I would suggest leaving that box unchecked for now.

I hope this helps you understand why I reverted your edit. I definitely don’t mean to scare you away from editing in the future! If I can assist you in any way, please feel free to reach out and I will do my best to assist. Good luck and happy editing! CThomas3 (talk) 21:45, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
