Regarding the delete in Li Yundi Special:Diff//1209402186 on 21 Feb + seeking for GA nomination feedback

[edit]

So the situation went like this, user Kazuha1029 Special:Diff/ /1051647708 quoted some Korean newspaper (published 2 Nov) that exaggerated the situation, if not with misinformation (e.g. the Korean news never mentioned the immediate ,successful remedy after the mistake. The misinformation was proved by critics https://limelight-arts.com.au/reviews/review-yundi-plays-chopin-sydney-symphony-orchestra/ and clarification of SSOchief violinist Andrew Haveron https://slippedisc.com/2015/11/breaking-yundi-crashes-out-of-chopin-concerto/  published some days after 2 Nov, in regards to the concert) Later, Kazuha stated in the talk page that anyone who delete the section is sanitizing and non-neutral, despite in an earlier discussion in the talk page, it came to the agreement that there are distortion of facts of Korean newspaper (said by Andrew Haveron, SSO chief violinist), and this section was deleted. But Kazuha thought that’s merely PR, and added back the section after 5 years of the agreed discussion.

I was afraid of being accused of conflict of interest, so I didn’t dare to delete the section. What I did is add back clarification by Andrew Haveron (he published on slippedisc) to the section , which may result in being incoherently written. Kazuha seems to be satisfied with the new version, since no more relevant editions are made.

For myself, I don’t mind the whole section being deleted, as it’s not a life-long shame for pianists to perform with flaws, having memory lapse or mistakes during concerts, same as many other classical music lovers https://www.talkclassical.com/threads/yundi-li.46480/?post_id=1155974&nested_view=1&sortby=oldest#post-1155974.  And it's a normal phenomenon for pianists to make mistakes and have memory lapses during their performances, and those are not added to their wiki as well (e.g. Arthur Rubinstein in 1964,Chen Sa in Van Cliburn International Piano Competition,Yuja Wang in 2021). Kazuha may hold a different view, stating that“If someone caused a controversy it'll forever be on a person's profile, just like how years in the future people will still talk about how Yundi allegedly hired prostitutes. “.   So, the deletion of the whole section may cause Kazuha to add back the section again, and arousing debates again.

Hence, I hope you, as an experienced editor, help to decide whether the section has the necessary to stay or not.  If it has to stay, I hope it can be written in a more neutral way, with no misinformation. Thank you so much.

Also, as I am hoping the article has the quality of reaching GA, it would be even better if you, an expert, could provide me with some feedback of improvements. Thanks a lot. EleniXDD (talk) 11:23, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
