Val Melaina is a neighborhood of Rome. It lies to the north of the city centre and covers an area of 6.2447 km ². As of 2010 it had a population of 36,470 people. It contains the Salesian Pontifical University, San Frumenzio ai Prati Fiscali, the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Speranza, and the Ponte Salario. The 1948 film classic Bicycle Thieves[1] and Luigi Zampa's Il medico della mutua (1968) were shot in this area of Rome.
