Virginia Schau

Virginia M. Schau (February 23, 1915[1] – May 28, 1989[2]) was an American who was the first woman and second amateur to win the Pulitzer Prize for Photography,[1] which she was awarded in 1954. The award winning photograph was taken in Redding, California, entitled "Rescue on Pit River Bridge".[3]
