History

WEBS-AM began in 1963 in the 1110 position on the AM Dial. It was began by the Stocks Family - William, Emma Jo, Bruce and Sandy - from whose names the station's Call Sign originated. In 1979, WEBS Radio was purchased by Kenyon D. Payne, formerly of Rome, GA. Ken grew up with a microphone in his hand because his father, Mather Payne, was owner and operator of WRGA Radio in Rome. Kevin Casey is Operations Manager and Program Director of WEBS. Randy Rhodes, the voice of AM-1030's sister station, WIPK Kickin' 94.5 is also involved in station management.

WEBS began broadcasting at 250 watts with a Country format, and eventually switched to Pop. They currently offer Top 40 Classic Hits from the 60's, 70's, and 80's, as well as Gospel music on Sundays, and various Public Service programs and coverage of local news for Gordon and surrounding Northwest Georgia counties. WEBS, now a 5,000 watt station, serves the Citizens of Calhoun, Gordon County and Northwest Georgia with emergency news coverage and quality programming 24/7.
