Coach Turner lead Wake Forest through 1997 finishing with a 42-34-5 overall and 4-23-0 in the ACC. Tony da Luz took over the program in 1998. The Deacons played in their first NCAA Tournament in 1996, losing in the second round to Florida. The Deacons have reached the NCAA tournament 16 consecutive seasons.

Wake Forest won the ACC Tournament in 2010, and made their first trip to the College Cup in 2011.
