Wayne Fitzgerald Blackshear (born February 11, 1992)[1][2] is an American professional basketball player for the Helsinki Seagulls of the Korisliiga. He played college basketball at the University of Louisville.

High school and college career

Blackshear played basketball for Curie Metropolitan High School before transferring to crosstown rival Morgan Park High School.[3] He earned 2010 and 2011 first team All-State recognition from the Chicago Tribune,[4][5] and was 2011 Chicago Sun-Times Sun-Times Player of the Year.[6] He was a 2011 McDonald's All-American and a Parade All-American.[7][8]

Blackshear averaged 7.6 points per game playing for the Louisville Cardinals in 2012–13, helping them win the 2013 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. As a senior in 2014–15, Blackshear earned second-team Academic All-American honors and averaged 11.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 32 games.

Professional career

After going undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft, Blackshear joined the San Antonio Spurs for the 2015 NBA Summer League.[9] On August 15, 2015, Blackshear signed with Giorgio Tesi Pistoia of the Italian first division.[10] He averaged 10 points and three rebounds per game. In August 2016 he signed with Fulgor Libertas Forlì of Serie A2 Basket.[11] He was seriously injured in his knee in the month of December, and in March 2017 decided to terminate the contract.[12] In December 2017, he signed with Byblos Club in Lebanon.[13] Blackshear signed with the Helsinki Seagulls of the Finnish league on October 6, 2018.[14]
