Wei Chen is a Canadian television and radio journalist. She has worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and its main rival CTV. In 2003, Chen surprised many by leaving CTV, where she was a national correspondent, to work for a new local station called Toronto 1 (now called SunTV), where she would host the station's morning news program.
The program, Toronto Today, was a failure; ratings were low. It was cancelled after only eight months on the air. The majority of the staff was laid off. Chen was reassigned as a reporter for the primetime magazine program Toronto Tonight, as well as host of The Source. Both shows were also cancelled. She joined the CBC and worked at TV stations in Calgary, Alberta, Ottawa, Ontario and Toronto, Ontario.
In January 2007, Chen became the new host of CBC Radio One's Ontario Morning, the network's local morning show for Southern Ontario. She lives in Toronto with her husband and daughter.
Chen was also a university roommate of singer-songwriter Jann Arden.
