Operator: --Matthew_Yeager (talk)
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic, Unsupervised
Programming Language(s): C# - with dotnetwikibot framework
Function Summary: Correct mislinked city, country links.
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Continuous (as work exists, on a low edit rate (1/15seconds?))
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): N
Function Details: Correct mislinked city, country links. To qualify links, city and country must be articles and city, country redirects to city. The correction would be to change
city, country -> city, country
city -> city
XYZ -> XYZ
Initially I would work on the links as requested, listed throughout I'm_Not_Dead_Tour#Tour_dates. Later, determine a way to find the most mislinked city, country and queue them up to be fixed. I originally ran this request for correcting Birmingham, England links without a flag because it was about 300 edits and I was supervising them. Now we are talking about many more corrections that may have more pages linked to them. This is the previous run at about 6 edits a minute.
Discussion
[edit]The latest MoS states that popular country and city names such as the United States, India, Canada etc. should not be wikified. Have you taken this into consideration? Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2008-09-08/Dispatches 2 =Nichalp «Talk»= 07:19, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I could very easily create a blacklist of popular countries not to link. MatthewYeager 19:37, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What's the point? Does the MoS even say to do this? This sounds a lot like Wikipedia:R#NOTBROKEN. Mr.Z-man 04:19, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- I believe the intent was for the first example, where the articles are enhanced with having the link to the country as well. I see what you are saying and will withdraw. Thank you for your time, MatthewYeager 20:33, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
