- While I don't think the photo is perfect - it looks to me like his head moved very slightly - it's also a fairly iconic image of him, compare, say, [1], and his grave here, or this set of exhibition photos. I think the historic merit, the quality, and the paucity of images of him excuses some things. I'm also not entirely sure the issues aren't just down to him being African-American: I could totally see "darker skin, so longer exposure so the facial details come out".
