How to Add a Citation[ edit ]
Use the Citation Hunt tool to find articles in need of citations
This tool shows you a snippet of an existing Wikipedia article that needs a citation
A tag for [citation needed] displays where a citation needs to be inserted
Read the snippet and decide whether you want to find a citation to back up this statement
Or click on "Next" to view the next snippet available
You can also filter the article search by category by simply typing the info into the search box and selecting from the autocomplete drop-down list
When you find the article you want to work on, click on "I got this!" which will take you to the article page
Once on the article page, make sure you log in by clicking on "Log In" on the top right corner of the page
Search for a reliable source to back up the statement
Once you have the source you want to use, come back to the Wikipedia article and click on "Edit"
Find the [citation needed] tag
Place your cursor to the right of the tag and hit "Delete" to remove it
Click on "Cite" and paste the reference link into the "Automatic" tab. You can also input the reference using the "Manual" tab
When you are done inputing the citation, Click "Generate" and "Insert"
