Pre-launch outreach and promotion

  • June: Open Publishing Fest panel discussion moderated by Center for Media and Democracy cofounder Sheldon Rampton
  • June: AfroCROWD Juneteenth Civil Rights Wikipedia Conference: Sponsored a session focused on News On Wiki/Black-owned papers. Followed up with Dr. Alexandria Lockett, keynote speaker for the event, on three calls about engaging students in News On Wiki.
  • August: Spoke about News On Wiki to an audience that included news reporters during the AfroCROWD BIPOC event.  The event included reporters from NPR and Complex.

  • September: Computers in Libraries Conference (CIL) panel, Sherry spoke briefly about News on Wiki
  • October:  Black Indigenous People of Color NYU LA News on WIki Training.
  • October: Peeragogy podcast
  • November: Arizona State University classroom partnership & training (Prof. Kristy Roshke)
  • November: Presentation to the Federated Wiki Wikidojo group
  • December: Lightning Talk and Edit-a-thon at WikiConference North America. 3-hour Edit-a-thon had 34 attendees, with 22 staying for the duration.
  • January: One World Birthday event for Wikipedia's 20th birthday
  • January: Wiki Translate the Environment with Wikimedians of the Caribbean
  • February: Black History Month edit-a-thon with the Schomburg Center, New York University
  • February: Writing Black History of the Pacific Northwest with Oregon State University Libraries (3 day/3 part event)
  • February: Several one-on-one and small group check-ins with core contributors
