Wikipedia:Newspapers.com/Deschmutz

Subsequent to the 2023 decision to transfer Newspapers.com memberships over to a TWL proxy, many citations include the cursed schmutz URL, which is www-newspapers-com.wikipedialibrary.idm.oclc.org. This shouldn't be included in citations — it only works for people who have TWL accounts and are currently logged in! It should be changed, in every instance, to just be www.newspapers.com.

I, JPxG, would recommend you use PressPass, a userscript for Firefox, Chrome and et cetera which (as of November 2023) properly auto-formats citation templates and removes the URL schmutz. It's written by a big-brain genius named "jp-x-g" so you know it's the good stuff.

In the meantime, these links are automatically fixed once daily by BsoykaBot; there is also a JWB setting to fix the schmutz. You can add this to your own JWB settings, at Special:MyPage/JWB-settings.json, to help in the fight!
