This poll is divided into two sections; the first is about the state of the policy itself, and the second is about how to go about blocking open proxies.
Please add your opinion on the matter in each section, in this format:
*'''<opinion>''' <rationale> ~~~~
Major opinions are listed below each section, and it is strongly suggested that you write a rationale for your opinion. Any discussion about this straw poll itself may be added to Wikipedia talk:No open proxies/Poll.
Finally, please be civil; concentrate on the issues at hand rather than other users; and the and do not be disruptive for sake of making a point.
Comments about policy
[edit]Main opinions on this issue include:
- "Support current meta version", in broad support of revision of the policy, recently rewritten by Pathoschild (talk · contribs) and currently (19:22, 9 July 2007 (UTC)) at meta:No open proxies, which has gained some support at meta:Talk:No open proxies
- "Support older meta version" in broad support of this revision that is currently (19:22, 9 July 2007 (UTC)) at WP:NOP, and previously at Meta Wiki
- The major difference between the two policies is that, according to the latter, users are prohibited from editing via open proxies; according to the former, users may edit via open proxies. Both support blocking open proxies.
- "Oppose", in broad opposition of keeping WP:NOP a policy on the English Wikipedia.
- "Other": please delineate.
