How Schneider PowerLogic ION8650 and ION8600 meters interface with the LAN

[edit]

A number of Schneider PowerLogic ION8650 and ION8600 meters and a GPS NTP 100 time synchronization device around 30 in number are there for measuring total energy injected to electrical grid through feeders of the transformers in a switch yard and the meters send data to a server using Struxureware 6 software, and from the client machines' web interface in the local area network so how does the meters interface with feeder and the LAN and GPS NTP 100 time synchronization device ;RS232/RS485 protocol also plays some role in this real life scenario from the meters data it seems to come out by RS232/RS485 interface and then that cable goes to some serial to ethernet gateway. Can you please explain the architecture and also about the role of "GPS NTP 100 time synchronization device" and the ethernet gateway. Will you please help me to understand how these anergy meter hardwares of two types are interfacing with feeders of transformers and sending the data to the local area network where the revenue monitoring EcoStruxureware server and clients are located and what is the role of RS232/485 here and the GPS NTP 100 time synchronization device in this scenario and is there any hardware gateway/serial server device for converting serial data coming from the ports of the meters that convert serial data to gigabit ethernet frames.Since there very knowledge people here in this platform will please help me to understand this hardware thing because I do not understand the thing from Schneider manual. Is it that Schneider PowerLogic ION8650 and ION8600 meters do not have ethernet ports built in but out put the data only as RS232/Rs485.Wrogh456 (talk) 15:04, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Schneider product information is on line, e.g ION8650 Meter Installation, Specifications and Setup options and this describes its communication ports. This site offers a downloadable General_Spec document, chat and e-mail support that may answer your detailed questions. DroneB (talk) 00:27, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
