Natural Boundary Condition[edit]

Hi, I was reading Lemon's Perfect Form and it talked about "natural boundary conditions". But I don't understand exactly how one determines them. It seems to me that one imposes some random condition then deduce stuff from it...?!

Advanced thanks for any enlightenment! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.222.12 (talk) 15:07, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See Boundary value problem. The (paragraph?) context for the term you are asking about would help here. 99.24.223.58 (talk) 17:54, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I understand from the book that a "natural boundary condition" is one which is "not imposed in the prob's initial description, [but] follows naturally from its variational nature". But it seems like one has to first artificially impose the condition on the system... I would upload a shot of that page but I don't know how to... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.222.12 (talk) 18:27, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe just type in a couple paragraphs with the definition and an example, or put that page on http://tinypic.com? 99.24.223.58 (talk) 20:56, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
