Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2011 February 11

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Comments and criticisms welcome! I'd like to tighten this article up before submitting it. I would also like to add a photograph, but I am unsure how to determine whether or not the photo I have is appropriate, i.e. open for use. How can one tell? (yes, I have checked wikipedia's "how to" page, but am still unsure) It is a portrait of the article's subject, circa 1915, and can be found through a number of online sources. Thanks!

Hey this is my first article. How do I actually publish my article. I think that it is ready to go. I would also like help making a disambiguation page, because there is already an article called "Everett Mills" about a baseball player with the same name.

For the Anita_Hill article, which is protected, under the section for the Clarence Thomas controversy there is an Effects section and RE: sexual harrassment a citation is missing (it says "who?") and I would like to add an academic reference. How do I request that an admin add this?

Adammc123 (talk) 02:11, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for offering to help. The place to suggest this is the article's talk page: Talk:Anita Hill. It doesn't look very active though- if no-one replies for a few days, let me know on my talk page and I'll try to help. (I'm not an "admin", but anyone who has had an account for 4 days and made at least 10 edits can edit semi-protected pages.)--Physics is all gnomes (talk) 17:24, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I created an article for the Mexican birthday song, Las Mañanitas, and I was hoping someone could review it, and if they think it meets Wikipedia's standards, remove the "unreviewed article" template.

After having looked at information related to Jats, Sansanwal was missing and was very much related to Sinsinwar, hence i am looking for someone who has done some previous articles on Sansanwal to provide a feedback on my article. am open to any suggestions, links, books etc. this should help me to maintain this article for future. Thanks

I am looking for advice on the notability and level of advertisement of this article. I have worked hard to correct past mistakes, and just want to make sure I am headed in the right direction. I have added references from outside parties, and feel as if these should be enough to warrant notability. Please see my talk page for advice and corrections i have made from other editors as they feel this is much better than my first attempt. Thank you.

Stop Using BCE

[edit]
Using the dating system of BCE and CE is distracting and it's questionable to challenge and change the dating system of the Western world for the last hundreds of years. Are you trying to be Politically Correct? -- Who says this is politically correct? Muslims? Jews? It seems foolish since the pivotal date is still linked to the birth of Christ. I'm not a Christian but, sorry, I'm not changing my calendar and won't link to any articles that do - and find it impossible to read through them since your changing of the current worldwide Western calendar system is distracting and brings up other issues unrelated to the content of what I'm interested in.

Would this article be accepted for going live? I am also having difficulty getting the refences section to look correct in terms of code and formatting.

This is my first article that profiles a company. Could someone please review it for editorial quality.

Thanks,

Jeff

Just wanted to make sure this wouldn't get promptly deleted. The sources are mostly reliable, except that finding dates for the Golden Gate Expo Bulletins was a challenge (the publishing dates weren't listed in the bulletin itself...I found these at the San Francisco Public Library).

Thanks!!

LadyKiwi (talk) 20:27, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Recent events make one cautious about predicting deletion, sadly. However, I looked over your article and fixed a couple of minor formatting issues. Since the Pacifica Statue Project web site is one of the authorities you have already cited and referenced within the body of your article. I don't believe you should list it again in External links. I think you should take a chance and move the article to mainspace. Tkotc (talk) 08:10, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello this is my first article and I would greatly appreciate it if someone could review it. I am also having trouble trying to find out how to enclose the categories (at the bottom) in a box. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Aonani 01:10, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

The box area is created by the system. Just list the categories you think are appropriate without the list stuff and colons before "Categories". Note that "Preview" doesnt show these with the body of the article, rather they are tacked onto the end of the preview, so save your article show them they way they will appear Tkotc (talk) 17:01, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
