Ryan Arenson (b. 1970) is a South African artist currently based in Plettenberg Bay, specializing in painting, drawing, and printmaking.[1] His work are often labour-intensive pieces, where line, pattern, and drawing play integral roles.[2] His works reference numerous historical sources which often contribute to his content and techniques. He worked in Paris between 2000 and 2003, after receiving first place in the ABSA Bank Atelier Award.[1] Anderson described his submissions to the 2007/8 Spier Contemporary:

The essence of my current body of work has been influenced by an attempt to re-align and create positive meaning in my life process. This has been reflected in my work thorugh the investigation of text and visual aesthetics, borrowed from my own and other cultures, and an investigation of techniques that are both familiar and unfamiliar to me.[3]
