[edit]- Teh Ferret 19:37, 26 April 2007 (UTC) Btw i only intended it to be for ferrets and weasels but i had to make it bigger for it to be project sized.
- - hmwithtalk 20:16, 26 April 2007 (UTC) (but I'm only in it for the ferrets!)
- Drakelruler 20:30, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- I started of with a ferret wikiproject but then decided to go into a much wider range and include all animals in the superfamily Musteloidea. Please help me in my search to improve all ferret and weasel articles on wikipedia.
- John Carter 22:00, 27 April 2007 (UTC) - I like the idea, but think it would probably work best as a work group of Mammals. That way, there's less duplication (banners, assessment, etc.), and it might be easier to get collaborative efforts off the ground. John Carter 22:00, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Peter cohen I'm one of the people who watches ferret so might as well join this group.--Peter cohen (talk) 11:09, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
- Reid, iain james 14:50, 17 July 2013 - I'm in it to clean up classification and make it consistent.
- Ferret25 19:35, 15 July 2017 - I am excited about this and if I have time, maybe I will work to create a wikipoedia community of Mustelid lovers like myself!!!

Articles needing taxoboxes
[edit]Article contents
[edit]The following items are desirable for articles of all levels, although the detail will vary depending on several factors. These items do not need to be separated into distinct sections; text should flow in continuous prose so far as possible. The order this information is included is also relatively unimportant, although the order listed is generally preferred.
- Description (physical, behavioral) - what makes this (group of) critter(s) different from its close relatives?
- Habitat - where does it live? how broadly does it roam? maps are good
- Cultural, Religious, Economic, etc. importance - what impact has it had on humans? Include here use for experimental purposes that do not relate to other headings.
- Classification - how does it fit into the tree of life?
Task list and progress
[edit]Create article for each Order and Family(done to subfamily level).Ensure all Family articles are taxonomically consistent(done to subfamily level).Ensure all articles between Order and Family rank are taxonomically consistent(done to subfamily level).
Create article for each Genus(done).Ensure all articles between Family and Genus rank are taxonomically consistent(done to genus level).
- Create articles for all Species
Create links for all species articles on appropriate articles- Create lists of uncreated articles to add to category pages:
- Add all articles by category to Wikipedia:WikiProject Mammals/Mustelids work group/Articles.
- Monitor the list using the recent changes function.
Taxonomy and references
[edit]The following references are currently being used for this Project. Join the discussion for other possibilities.
- Mammal Species of the World, 3rd edition (2005) - use {{MSW3}} or one of its its derivatives (such as {{MSW3 Groves}}) in the reference section.
Use a taxobox

In general, articles relating to species should have taxobox. This is something we have inherited from the Tree of Life WikiProject.
Talk pages
[edit]Place {{|Mammals|Mustelids-work-group=yes}} at the top of an article's talk page. This will help direct editors to this page for guidance. For information on assessments, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Mammals/Assessment.
